POLITICS AND THE PANDEMIC: WHAT DO THEY MEAN FOR NJ'S FUTURE?

  • Aging In Montclair, Inc. 13 Trinity Place Montclair, NJ, 07042 United States (map)

As the elections get closer and closer, you may be asking many questions.

  • What are the key races for NJ and how do they relate to the national race?

  • What is the back story to the ballot question on the legalization of marijuana?

  • What is the latest update on Covid-19 for NJ?

  • Is NJ media thriving?

Those questions and others will be discussed by

John Mooney, Executive Director and  Founder of NJ Spotlight News

Join Aging In Montclair for a live, virtual conversation with John Mooney at our October Saturday Program when he reflects on his distinguished career as a reporter for The Newark Star-Ledger and The Bergen Record, and a contributing writer for The New York Times before founding NJ Spotlight in 2009, an online news service. In March 2019, WNET Public Television acquired NJ Spotlight to partner with NJTV News, WNET’s public television affiliate based in Newark.

This acquisition provided NJTV News with an “expanded digital platform and journalism team, while providing NJ Spotlight more stability and reporting resources as part of the WNET family.”  The union of these two news sources was the creation of NJ Spotlight News, dedicated to covering the critical issues of education, healthcare, environment and politics.

Before founding  NJ Spotlight in 2009,  an online news site, John Mooney covered education in New Jersey for 15 years as a reporter for The Newark Star-Ledger and The Bergen Record, and a contributing writer for The New York Times.

He has won numerous state and national awards, including honors from the Education Writers Association and the American Society of News Editors.
